Inaugurating the anti-erosion embankment work at the Luy river

On 10 January 2019, the Provincial People’s Committee of Binh Thuan had the great honor to welcome Mr Paul Jansen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, for the inauguration ceremony for completion of works to strengthen the embankment of the Luy River in Phan Thanh commune, Bac Binh District. The construction which helps to stabilize the river banks and reduce erosion risk was implemented under the Belgium-funded project of “Integrated water resource management and urban planning related to climate change in Binh Thuan Province”.

Binh Thuan: Study results on vulnerability laying firm groundwork for updating the action plan on responding to climate change

On August 30, 2018 a workshop was held introducing the results of the study on “Technical consultancy on assessment of the vulnerability in relation to climate change for the Luy river basin, and update for the action plan on responding to climate change in Binh Thuan province”. The workshop was conducted by the study consultants, Water Resources University Consultancy Co., Ltd., and the Project Coordination Committee of the Belgium-funded project of “Integrated water resource management and urban planning related to climate change in the south-central province of Binh Thuan.

August 1, 2018. A conference to launch the results of innovative agricultural production models in response to climate change was hosted by the Coordination Committee of the Belgium-funded project of “Integrated water resource management and urban planning related to climate change Binh Thuan province”. The event, with participation from over 70 representatives from departments and agencies as well as farmer households, highlighted the advantages of modern, efficient techniques for agriculture production.

Assessment of climate change impacts on underground water resources

A workshop to launch the results of a study on impacts of climate change on underground water resources in the central coastal area of Binh Thuan province was conducted over 25 to 28 June in Phan Thiet. The event, hosted by the Coordination Unit of the Belgium-funded project of “Integrated water resource management and urban planning related to climate change in Binh Thuan”, featured presentations by consultants from the Sub-institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate. The workshop also included training for participants to transfer the relevant technologies.

Luong Son’s water supplying system to be expanded

With a population of about 14,000 people, Luong Son is the second largest town in the district of Bac Binh in Binh Thuan province. Currently the town’s water supply system meets the demand of only about 30 per cent of its population which creates significant difficulties for many households in their daily life, especially those living on the town’s outskirts.
