The Technical Support Unit (TSU), in tandem with the Project Coordination Units on Integrated Water Resources Management and Urban Development in Relation to Climate Change in three provinces of Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan and Ha Tinh hosted a two-day training course on Communication and Community development on November 23-24, 2015 in Nha Trang city in the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa.
The course attracted nearly 20 trainees who were key members of the Communication and Community development network in three stakeholder provinces.
After the course, the trainees grasped basic knowledge on water resources management and urban development in relation to climate change, principle issues in Communication and Community development, and crucial steps in penning a communication programme, etc. The trainees were equipped with and given a chance to practice several methods and skills related to Communication and Community development, such as visualisation method in participatory programme, quick assessment method in participatory programme, or presentation skills, etc.
Notably, allowing the trainees to carry out field surveys with the application of the knowledge they have learned and propose projects/programmes/activities that would be implemented when they return to work after the course helped the trainees have a good grip of what they were trained while increasing the sustainability of the course results.
The knowledge and experience gained from the course will help the trainees significantly in the process of planning and implementing Communication and Community development activities at each project based on the Communication and Community development strategy under the approved programme. The trainees will later become key members in building and developing the Communication and Community development network in each stakeholder province as well as in the whole programme.
